Well family this week went by pretty fast and ended well. Esperanza got baptized after her two kids had already gotten baptized and it was a great little miracle. We didnt know if she was going to be able to go to church because she has to work for her nephew in a place that makes tlyoyos (they are tortillas filled with something that is like beans but it isnt) so we just prayed a lot and told her she was going to be able to go to church to be baptized no matter what happened. So we prepared her and she had her interview and all went well and it just so happened that her nephews wife had her baby saturday so he canceled work for saturday and sunday and Esperanza got to be baptized without any problems! It was great!
Another great experience we had this week was being able to teach a girl named Sandi. She had gone to church on the 7th so we contacted her and got an appointment for the next day. We went and taught her lesson 1 and invited her to be baptized and she said yes. She wasnt sure though because she is a really active catholic where she lives (oh yeah I forgot to mention that she lives on the west coast of mexico and only came to visit her dad for a while). We visited her the day that followed after leaving her with the challenge of reading 3rd Nefi 11 and praying to see if the church was true. She did and told us that shed felt something that she hadnt felt before but wasnt sure if it was an answer. We testified that it was and that she had to keep praying. The next time we met was in the church. We gave her a quick tour and ended it in the baptism room, sat down and asked about her prayers. Through tears she explained that she had felt the same and knew everything was true. We basically did that baptismal interview by asking if she believed in the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith and the True Church. It was such a great momemt but at the same time really sad. She would be leaving a few days after that.
She returned to her house on bus after going to sacrament meeting on sunday and later that day we saw the member (who got reactivated because of the experience) and she told us that Sandi hoped that all her family would accept the message. I know that Sandi will be baptized and we will be passing the reference to the missionaries in Guerrero so that her and her family can be taught and baptized.
Ahh its experiences like that one that make the mission worth while. To find Gods chosen children who are ready and willing to accept the Gospel. There are so many people like that here and I know that we are finding them and helping them accept and use the Atonement so that they can live with Our Heavenly Father again.
